Mapping the Logic: A Flowchart Practice Activity
Iryna Ashby, Purdue University
This H5P interactive flowchart activity helps students practice the planning work that should happen before writing code. Students review basic flowchart conventions, identify common symbols, sequence program logic, locate missing steps, and correct logical flow errors in simple programming scenarios. These tasks strengthen communication as a cross-disciplinary skill by requiring students to represent technical ideas clearly, explain process logic, and use a shared visual language before moving into implementation. The activity reinforces the idea that strong code begins with strong design: students first clarify inputs, processes, decisions, outputs, and sequence so they can approach programming with a more organized problem-solving plan.
